Installing Your Cycling Computer Quick and Easy

It’s possible to get confused and have difficulties when installing. No worries, I am here to get you started on logging as many miles as you can.

Considering those who are new to cycling computer/speedometers, It is like a pedometer for your bicycle. With every revolution of your tires activates the computer sensor to calculate your speed and distance. Depending on the model much more information can be calculated such as power, heart rate, altitude to list a few. Installing and configuring a cycling computer can be easy with these steps, so let’s begin.

READ ALL DIRECTIONS FIRST!

Step 1: Attach the sensor to the fork.

Secure the sensor to your front wheel on the opposite side of the brakes. Use zip ties to secure tightly. Ensure sensor and wires don’t interfere with suspension or other components of fork if present to help protect from debris. Run the wire up the outer part of the fork.

Step 2: Attach the computer to your handlebars.

Decide on a placement spot that doesn’t hinder your view of the road and easy access if needed. I would suggest placing near the center or stem clamp. Depending on your computer/speedometer the hardware can be slightly different. Before tighten on handlebars make sure you have enough slack to freely turn without damaging wires or computer.

Step 3: Attaching magnet sensor to the wheel.

You’re almost there, now attach the magnet sensor to the spokes of your front wheel. Depending on your computer model, you can attach with a small clip or tighten with a screwdriver. Every time the magnet passes the sensor it’s busy calculating. To produce accurate reading the magnet needs to be 3-4mm from the sensor.

Step 4: Calibrate computer to wheel size.

Enter the tire diameter in the computer which can be found on the tire near the PSI (tire pressure) info. As a result, your computer will work more accurately with each revolution computing your speed and more. Test it by spinning the wheel to ensure proper placement and speed results in the computer. Also, some computer manufactures used a number code for tire size so be sure to check computer manual for measurements.
